Katie Meyer is the goalkeeper and captain of the Stanford women’s soccer team, has died, the university announced. Meyer was 22 years old.

According to the university, she died in a campus residence, but the cause of death was not given.
A senior who studies international relations and history, Meyer made two significant saves in penalty shootouts that helped Stanford win the national championship in 2019.

Shortly before her death, Katie had posted a photograph of her and Steven on Instagram to promote her upcoming project, Be The Mentality.
In a statement, Stanford said: “Her friends described her as a larger-than-life team player in all her work, from choosing an academic discipline, saying she ‘changed my perspective on the world and faced very significant challenges’.”
“We need to work together to relive the passion the Cardinal Women’s Soccer program and women’s sport in general have brought.”
No cause of death was given and calls by USA TODAY Sports to Stanford University and the Santa Clara County (California) Sheriff’s Department were not returned.

Katie Meyer has a senior majoring in International Relations and a minor in History at the school. But on Tuesday morning, the mayor was found dead in her dorm room.
She had earlier posted on February 1 that she was having surgery on her right knee, sharing videos of her scrolling through TikTok.
