Jefferson was drafted in the seventh round, 257th overall, by the Detroit Lions in the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract on May 14, 2021.

Rookie running back Jermar Jefferson suffered a sprained ankle in practice Monday, but Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said the injury does not to be severe. “He’ll be out of practice today, but we do not think it’s serious,” Campbell said before practice Tuesday.
