Patrick Mahomes wears the WHOOP wearable device during Super Bowl LV. Four months after signing a contract extension that could reach half a billion dollars, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes invested in the WHOOP, a wearable device that tracks daily recovery, stress and sleep.
What’s on arm:
Mahomes’ longtime instructor, Bobby Stroop, is a WHOOP member, and Mahomes first began using it in college at Texas Tech. “I was looking for an edge to take my game to the next level,” Mahomes said. “WHOOP took the guesswork out of my training regimen.”
With the success of Mahomes comes curiosity. Fans speculate as to what makes him such a great athlete. He also worries about Mahomes possibly having diabetes. And his instructor may have given a clue.
Left arm bump:
Mahomes’ longtime trainer, Bobby Stroupe, is a WHOOP member, and Mahomes first started using it in college at Texas Tech.
WHOOP records that metric in a 0 to 100% range, and the color red denotes when someone is run-down, and the color green indicates when one’s body is peaking.
Mahomes wore a WHOOP device on his upper arm under an arm sleeve every game during the 2020 season, and sometimes his high scores correlated with his play.
When the offense took the field, many fans had begun to file to the exits. The angsty silence had taken hold, but the Grim Reaper was about to slay the Buffalo defense in two plays that had to be perfect. On a fast pass to the middle of the field, Tyreek Hill picked up 19 yards behind some blockers.
Andy Reid and Mahomes have the ability to take the Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl. For a team that had to wait decades in between their last Super Bowl appearances, this would have once seemed impossible. The truth is that Mahomes is the NFL’s brightest star.
