John Calipari previews Kentucky-Auburn SEC basketball game

Auburn will face Kentucky in Auburn Arena on Saturday in what is expected to be one of the most important games in Auburn Arena’s history.

Here’s what Kentucky head coach John Calipari had to say about the Tigers’ matchup:

In regards to the burgeoning Auburn-Kentucky rivalry:

“When you’re in a league and another club is strong, you know it’s going to be a big game.” We have to go into the game knowing what kind of game we’ll be playing – we respect all teams.”

What Auburn excels at:

“They’re a terrific group of people.” They’re huge, they shoot it, and they go to great lengths to score lobs. ‘Wow, they’re pretty fantastic,’ I thought when I first started the footage about a day and a half ago.

On the clash between Kentucky and Auburn:

“They’re all challenging matches,” says the coach. They’re long and big, and [Wendell] Green is a superb passer and shooter, so they’re difficult to match up against. We’re about to enter a dangerous place. It’s going to be a really difficult game.”

Regarding Walker Kessler:

“He’s having an opportunity to do something because he’s playing more minutes,” Calipari said. “They’re doing a terrific job pushing him to the basket for lobs, and he’s also blocking shots.” He’s one of the country’s top big men.”

On Saturday, Jan. 21, at 12:00 CST, Auburn and Kentucky will face off. The game will be televised on CBS.
